Kibra Woman who fatally stabbed her neighbour twice charged with manslaughter

A Kibra woman who stabbed her neighbour twice leading to her death was charged before a Milimani court with manslaughter.

Elizabeth Akinyi Otieno was arraigned before magistrate Benmark Ekhubi and denied the offence of manslaughter.

It was alleged that on August 27 at Katwekera area in Kibra she unlawfully killed her neighbour Maureen Nyarindi.

According to the police report, on that evening Akinyi was seated in her house making dinner for her family when her neighour Maureen the deceased stormed into her house to confront her over an issue.

A fight broke out between the two women and in the process Akinyi stabbed Maureen in the stomach twice.

Akinyi upon realizing what she had done rushed to the police station and surrendered herself telling them what she had done.

A neighbour who is a witness in the case said he was eating supper when he heard commotion and upon going to check he found the deceased lying in a pool of blood writhing in pain.

He called a motorbike and took the deceased to Mbagathi Hospital where she died while undergoing treatment.

The husband to the deceased told police that he was out watching football when he got report that his wife had been stabbed.

However, Akinyi has denied killing her neighbour telling court that Maureen went to her house but she never killed her as alleged.

The magistrate ordered the suspect to be remanded in custody pending determination of whether she will be released on bail.
