Proceedings at the Milimani Law Courts were thrown into disarray after a file in a high-stakes land dispute involving the Wilson Mitumba Women Group and the Attorney General allegedly went missing, forcing the adjournment of the case.
The petition, filed on behalf of more than 600 women and led by group treasurer Cecilia Wanjiru, seeks the restitution of land in Westpark Estate, near Wilson Airport. The petitioners claim the property was unlawfully taken from them through fraudulent transactions.
According to the group, they were forcefully evicted from the land by police officers, after which it was allegedly occupied by individuals who presented forged ownership documents. “We were settled there, but they came, evicted us, and took our property. We want our land back,” Wanjiru told the court.

Tensions flared on Wednesday when it was revealed that the court was not proceeding leading to the protests by members of the women’s group, who disrupted court while demanding swift action to address the file disappearance.
Despite the setback, the petitioners have vowed to pursue the matter until justice is served, maintaining that the disputed land rightfully belongs to them
