Two nurses who poured acid on police officers who had raided their clinic for conducting illegal abortions have been detained in custody for four days to allow police conclude investigations.
Jonah Kipsiror Murori and Mwaura Karumbi are alleged to have splashed acid on three Police officers during Raila raid at a medical centre in Ngara.
They were arraigned in court on Wednesday where the state sought for more days to detain them as they conclude investigations.
The Court ruled that the DCI had provided sufficient grounds to warrant extra detention of the suspects to pave way for further investigations.
The two, are being investigated for the offence of unlawfully carrying on the business of a Pharmacy in premises not registered by the pharmacy and poisons board.
According to police records, Police officers on patrol received information that an abortion was being performed at Ngara Medical Centre situated at Ngara Equity roundabout where they proceeded and knocked the door to be opened.
It was at this time that Murori allegedly appeared at the door and without any hesitation poured acid on the officers.
The acid splashed on their bodies and clothes causing the officers to sustain severe burns and the three police officers were rushed to Nairobi West Hospital where they were admitted in High Dependency Unit.
Reinforcement police officers later rushed to the scene where a container with liquid substance and material resembling human organs.
The two suspects were also arrested with three patients among them a lady who allegedly was in the process of procuring abortion and was taken to Mbagathi hospital in serious condition.
The case will be mentioned on Monday next week to confirm if the DPP will charge them.
