Three individuals were on Friday arraigned before a Nairobi court over allegations of forging the last Will and testament of their deceased relative, Dr. Cyrus Gathirua Ndiritu.
The accused Irene Wanjiru Ndiritu, Danson Ndiritu Gathirua, and Alex Karuki Gathirua are alleged to have conspired to falsify the Will of the late Dr. Ndiritu with the intention of passing it off as authentic.
According to the prosecution, the forgeries were committed on diverse dates between May 2, 1999, and May 11, 2023, at an unknown location within Kenya. The suspects allegedly produced documents purporting to be the genuine Will of the deceased, complete with his supposed signature.
The trio also faced a separate charge of uttering the forged Will in 2010, and an additional count of forging a trust deed between Dr. Ndiritu and the first accused, Irene Wanjiru Ndiritu. They were further accused of falsifying share transfer documents, which they allegedly presented as legitimate and duly signed by the late doctor.
Appearing before Principal Magistrate Dolphina Alego, the three pleaded not guilty to all charges. The court released each of them on a cash bail of Ksh 1 million pending trial.
