Robbery With Violence Convict Flees From Kibera Court During Mention.

There was drama at the Kibera Law Courts today after a convicted robber, Alex Kibisu, escaped from police custody under unclear circumstances. Kibisu, who was recently handed a 20-year sentence for robbery with violence, broke free while being escorted by officers at the court premises.

Confusion ensued in the court when the suspect, who had been brought in for a mention related to his appeal, allegedly overpowered a police officer before disappearing through the court’s corridors . Security personnel were immediately placed on high alert, with officers launching a manhunt around the Kibera area.

Kibisu’s escape has raised questions about security lapses at the courts. He was convicted earlier this year for violently robbing three women near Uhuru Gardens, a case that drew public attention after his initial death sentence was reduced to a 20-year term by the High Court in April 2025
