The inquest into the death of Rex Masai, allegedly shot during anti-government protests, continued today at the Milimani Law Courts with key testimonies from a crime scene expert and a police officer.
Crime Scene Investigator Paul Njihia testified, confirming that police fired shots along Mama Ngina Street on June 20, 2024 the day Masai was killed. He presented photographs and a detailed sketch of the scene to illustrate how the shooting occurred.
Njihia told the court that a damaged bullet was recovered from the scene and later confirmed by a ballistic report dated August 8, 2024, to be live ammunition. This finding contradicts the testimony of a former OCPD who had earlier appeared in court.
Additionally, blood samples collected at the scene matched Rex Masai’s DNA, providing further evidence that he was shot during the protest.
