Philip Aroko Faces Intimidation Following MP Bid, Says Lawyer

Advocate Danstan Omari, representing Philip Aroko, has claimed that Aroko has encountered significant challenges since announcing his intention to run for the Kasipul Constituency parliamentary seat.

Speaking to the media at Gigiri Police Station, Omari stated that Aroko has consistently reported various incidents of violence and intimidation in his constituency to both local and national authorities.

According to Omari, Aroko possesses evidence indicating that his supporters have been harassed, some injured, and others even killed. He added that these reports have already been submitted to the government.

Commenting on the death of Hon. Charles Were, Omari conveyed Aroko’s view that it is regrettable the lawmaker passed away before authorities could take any action concerning the alleged abuses.

Omari emphasized that, to the best of his client’s knowledge, no one affiliated with Aroko was celebrating Hon. Were’s death. He also stated that Aroko was fully prepared to face Were at the ballot in the 2027 elections but was denied that opportunity due to the MP’s untimely demise.

Lastly, Omari confirmed that Aroko categorically denies any involvement in the killing of Hon. Were, stressing that his client neither participated in nor had any knowledge of the circumstances surrounding the murder.
