Nairobi, Kenya Pastor and motivational speaker Robert Burale has taken media personality Alex Mwakideu and his former wife Rozina Mwakideu to court, accusing them of defamation over a YouTube interview that he says tarnished his name and reputation.
In a suit filed at the Milimani Chief Magistrates’ Court, Burale claims that the October 4, 2025 interview titled “My Biggest Mistake Was Marrying Robert Burale” published on the Alex Mwakideu TV YouTube channel falsely depicted him as manipulative, hypocritical, a swindler, and homosexual.
The cleric, who describes himself as a “servant of God and mentor to men of faith,” argues that the remarks were malicious and intended to destroy his public image as a pastor and moral leader.
Burale accuses Mwakideu of professional negligence, saying he failed to verify the allegations or seek his comment before airing the episode, and that he went further to urge viewers to “share widely,” worsening the reputational harm.
He says the interview triggered public ridicule, emotional distress, and a loss of credibility among congregants and peers. He is asking the court to order the removal of the video, publication of a public apology, and payment of KSh 20 million in general and aggravated damages.
The suit also cites a Radio 47 segment aired on October 7, 2025, in which Mwakideu reportedly said he was not aware of the full contents of the interview.
Rozina and Alex Mwakideu have been named as the first and second defendants respectively. The case has been filed under fast-track procedure, and the two are yet to file their responses.
