Murkomen Condemns Recent Abductions Promises Stern Action on Those Involved

Interior Cabinet Secretary Kipchumba Murkomen has strongly condemned the recent abductions going on the country and further promised to bring to book all those involved.

Through his lawyer Danstan Omari, Murkomen says the abductions and any form of extra judicial actions taken by any criminals will not be tolerated by his office.

While addressing the media at Milimani Law courts, Omari who was accompanied by Lawyer Sam Nyaberi said investigations are ongoing and anyone found culpable will be brought to book.

Murkomen wants his name to be struck off the two petitions filed by the LSK and Senator Okiya Omtatah who enjoyed him a respondent.

Omari said that Murkomen’s job description as the Cabinet Secretary for interior is defined and that his role to the police is only in policy and he can only provide a written policy direction to the IG of police in that matter.

He added that his policy does not involve the command structure which is a preserve of the Inspector General of Police hence he has no power to direct the National Police Service operations under the Law.

According to Murkomen, his name was dragged into the petition without any lawful or constitutional reasons or bearing to bring him on board.

“Out of the actions of the police, as a concerned Cabinet Secretary, the police have responded adequately through their police spokesperson” Omari said

Murkomen says that he is determined that whoever committed an offence in the abduction will be held liable
