MMU Student Who Killed Fellow Student Last Month to be Charged Tomorrow.

The Multimedia University Student who was detained last month for brutally killing Sylvia Kemunto a fellow student will now be charged with murder before the high court tomorrow.

Eric Mutinda was arraigned before a Kibera court on Monday and the plea date was set for Tuesday.

The prosecution told court that they will close the miscellaneous application tomorrow, paving the way for Mutinda to be formally charged for the murder of Kemunto.

Mutinda had been detained for 21 days pending the conclusion of investigations after police made the application before court tomorrow allow them time to complete investigations.

It is alleged that he killed Kemunto and dumped her body in a water tank on the rooftop of one of the university hostels.

During the session, the defence objected to any further detention, arguing that the suspect should be released to his mother and would voluntarily present himself in court tomorrow.

However, Magistrate Temu ruled that an additional day of detention would not harm anyone and directed that Mutinda remain in custody.

“I have said one day is not bad… come back tomorrow,”said Magistrate Temu.

The family’s lawyer, Danstan Omari, confirmed that investigations are complete and murder charges have been approved.

“The suspect will appear tomorrow for murder charges,”Omari said.

He also said that they intend to oppose any application for the suspect’s release on bail.
