Months after the disappearance British national Campbell Scott at a Nairobi hotel and his body after being found dumped miles away, a middle aged man who was arrested for his murder has been formally charged with murder.
Alex Mutua was arraigned before the Makadara high court where he was charged with the death of Scott and it was alleged that he committed the offence on February 16 this year in Pipeline, alongside others, not before court.
Mutua pleaded not guilty to the charges before Justice James Wakiaga but was not released on bail after the prosecution said they would be opposing bail.
The prosecution informed the court that they have filed an affidavit opposing bail and the court directed them to formally submit the affidavit within three days.
Additionally, the court ordered that a pre-bail report be prepared within 21 days that will be used to reach the decision of the bail ruling.
Mutua is expected to appear in court on June 17 for a pre-trial conference and a hearing on the bail application.
