A man accused of killing a General Service Unit (GSU) officer with an arrow near State House has been detained for 14 days to allow police to complete investigations into the incident.
The suspect, Kithuka Kimunyi Musyimi, was presented before Principal Magistrate Njagi at the Kibera Law Courts, where prosecutors successfully sought his detention.
According to police reports, Kithuka was arrested on October 13, 2025, along Denis Pritt Road, near State House Gate D. Preliminary investigations indicate that at the time of the attack, he was armed with a bow and arrow concealed in a blue sack and was pretending to be a street dweller.
He allegedly approached GSU officer Ramadhan Khamisi Matanka, who was manning a security checkpoint, and shot him in the left side of the chest, causing severe bleeding. Witnesses say the suspect had taken cover behind a vehicle undergoing a security check before drawing his bow and releasing the fatal arrow.
The officer was rushed to Kenyatta National Hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries while receiving treatment.
Investigators requested additional time to hold the suspect, arguing that he has no fixed residence and could flee if released. The court granted the request, ordering that Kithuka remain in custody until October 28, 2025, pending the conclusion of investigations
