A man who has been masquerading as magistrate in Nyahururu Law courts was on Monday arraigned before a Nairobi court and charged with impersonation.
Benard Kipkurui was charged with impersonation and it’s alleged that he obtained money from unsuspecting job seeker pretending that he would help her get absorbed to the Judiciary.
It is alleged that on diverse dates between April 28 and May 3, 2024 in Nairobi, he obtained Sh 200,000 from Joan Chekoech pretending that he was in a position to facilitate his employment as a clerk in the Judiciary a fact he knew to be false.
Kipkurui also denied the second charge of falsely representing himself to Chepkoech to be an employee of the Judiciary as a Magistrate Stationed at Nyahururu Law Courts.
He denied the charge before Senior Principal Magistrate Benmark Ekhubi and pleaded with the court to release him on reasonable bail.
Ekhubi released him on Sh 150,000 bond with an alternative cash bail of Sh 100,000.
