Kithuka Kimunyi Musyimi, the man accused of murdering a General Service Unit (GSU) officer at State House, Nairobi, in October 2025, has been detained for an additional two weeks to allow further investigations.
Musyimi, who has been in police custody since October 14, 2025, appeared before Principal Magistrate Njagi at the Kibera Law Courts, where the investigating officer requested more time to complete investigations.
The officer told the court that preliminary findings had linked the suspect to the murder and that investigators required extra time to subject him to a mental assessment at Kenyatta National Hospital. The court granted the application, ordering that the suspect remain in custody until Thursday, November 6, 2025.
Following the courtโs decision, family members of the accused held a prayer session outside the court, seeking divine protection for him while in detention.
According to police reports, Musyimi was arrested on October 13, 2025, along Denis Pritt Road near State House Gate D. Investigations reveal that he was allegedly armed with a bow and arrow concealed in a blue sack and was posing as a street dweller at the time of the attack.
He is accused of approaching GSU officer Ramadhan Khamisi Matanka, who was manning a security checkpoint, and shooting him in the left side of the chest, causing severe bleeding. Witnesses reported that the suspect had hidden behind a vehicle undergoing a security check before releasing the fatal arrow.
The injured officer was rushed to Kenyatta National Hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries while receiving treatment.
