Deputy President Prof. Kithure Kindiki and Interior Cabinet Secretary Kipchumba Murkomen have formally written to the Law Society of Kenya (LSK) seeking copies of a complaint filed against them, which seeks their removal from the Roll of Advocates.
In a letter dated this week and authored by their lawyer Cecil Miller, the two leaders said they became aware of the complaint through reports circulating on social media and are now demanding official documentation from the Society to understand the nature and content of the accusations.
“We have been retained to represent the Deputy President H.E. Prof. Kithure Abraham Kindiki and Hon. Onesmus Kipchumba Murkomen with instructions to write to you… kindly provide us with copies of the complaint,” reads part of Miller’s letter addressed to the LSK.
The request comes after Nairobi-based advocate Kepha Ojijo filed a petition in June calling for the duo’s removal from the legal roll over for what he termed as gross misconduct and violations of the Advocates’ Code of Conduct.
Ojijo alleges that both Kindiki and Murkomen, while holding top security positions in government, presided over police crackdowns that resulted in the deaths, injuries, enforced disappearances, and abductions of young protesters during the Gen Z demonstrations of 2024 and 2025.
The petition cites their role in sanctioning or failing to prevent the use of excessive force during nationwide protests, thereby violating their ethical obligations as members of the legal profession.
LSK is yet to publicly respond to the request or indicate whether the matter will proceed to a disciplinary tribunal.
