Juja MP George Koimburi to Face Charges Over Alleged Plot to Obstruct Justice

Juja Constituency Member of Parliament George Koimburi Ndungu is set to appear before the Milimani Law Courts today to face charges related to an alleged conspiracy to obstruct justice, contrary to Section 117(c) of the Penal Code.

Koimburi will be charged alongside six other individuals: Peter Kiratu Muhia, David Macharia Gatana, Cyrus Kieru Muhia, Grace Nduta Wairimu, and two others identified as Peter and Njuguna alias Njugush.

According to the proposed charge sheet, the seven are accused of jointly conspiring to obstruct justice on May 25, 2025, at the Mugutha area in Juja Sub-county, Kiambu County. They allegedly staged a fake abduction of MP Koimburi in an attempt to prevent his arrest and arraignment at the Kiambu Law Courts, where he was to face four counts related to land fraud. This followed a directive from the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (ODPP) via a letter dated May 20, 2025.

Peter Kiratu Muhia is also expected to be charged separately with providing false information to the police. It is alleged that he made a false report at Mugutha Police Station on the same day, claiming that Koimburi had been abducted by unknown individuals wearing face masks after attending a church service at the Full Gospel Church in Mugutha.

Additionally, George Koimburi faces a separate charge of publishing false information, in violation of Section 23 of the Computer Misuse and Cybercrimes Act No. 5 of 2018. The prosecution alleges that on June 7, 2025, while at Karen Hospital, Koimburi gave a press statement claiming he had been abducted and tortured by criminals a statement they argue he knew to be false and intended to cause public alarm.

All seven suspects are scheduled to appear before the Milimani Law Courts in Nairobi today.
