Jowie found guilty of killing businesswoman Monica Kimani six years ago in her house.

Joseph Irungu alias Jowie got a blow on Friday after the high court found him guilty of the murder of Monica Kimani in 2018.

Jowie had been charged alongside his former fiancée Jacque Maribe who was acquitted for lack of evidence.

However, Justice Grace Nzioka ruled that in Jowie’s case, the prosecution had proven beyond reasonable doubt that he killed Monica.

The judge relied on six areas in reaching her verdict of guilty against Jowie who is now at industrial area remand prison awaiting sentencing.

The first issue was whether he knew Monica, Jowie had said he did not know Monica or was ever in her house.

“From the evidence produced he knew the deceased person and his evidence that he did not know her is insincere and untenable,” the judge ruled.

The court also determined that Jowie used the ID that was stolen from Royal Park to enter into Monica’s apartments.

On Whether the clothes he was wearing implicated him in the commission of the offense since it had Monica’s blood stain, the court has said it was satisfied from evidence that it was the same short.

The judge said multiple witnesses saw him that day and including the househelp who said she saw him leave the house with a brown short.
The Househelp said that’s what he was wearing the brown shorts.

The court also said that there were several people who placed Jowie at Monica’s house on that fateful night.

Justice Nzioka also ruled that the gun that was with Jowie was used to subdue Monica during her murder.

“I find that The gun was used to subdue the deceased during her murder,” she ruled.

However, on the issue of police parade the court faulted the police for not carrying out the identification

“On the need to conduct a proper identification parade .The manner in which the parade was conducted is flawed therefore the court,” the judge said.

It was the courts finding that Monica’s murder was planned going by the events prior to that murder where Monica’s neck was slit open.
