High Court Issues Arrest Warrant for British National in Nanyuki Murder Case

The High Court has ordered the arrest of a British citizen accused of murdering a Kenyan woman in Nanyuki more than ten years ago.

Justice Alexander Muteti granted the warrant after the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (ODPP), representing the Republic, informed the court that the suspect had been formally charged with the offence of murder but failed to attend court.

According to the prosecution, the offence occurred on the night of March 31 to April 1, 2012, at Lions Court Lodge in Nanyuki, Laikipia County, where the accused is alleged to have killed Agnes Wanjiri Wanjiku.

The State further revealed that while several key witnesses in the case are currently in the United Kingdom, arrangements will be made to ensure they are available to testify when the trial begins.

In his ruling, Justice Muteti emphasized the importance of protecting the integrity of the judicial process. He directed that media outlets refrain from publishing the identity of the accused or any of the witnesses listed in the evidence bundle submitted before court.

The warrant paves the way for extradition proceedings to have the accused returned to Kenya to face trial.
