A gang member suspected to have killed an Eastleigh businessman early this month will now spend two weeks in custody to allow police complete investigations.
This is after the DPP secured orders to detain Paul Owuodha alias Fazul Mohamed in police custody in order to complete investigations into the killing of Abdirahim Abdulahi Ibrahim.
The deceased, Abdirahim was shot dead and his mobile phone stolen on November 9.
According to court documents, Preliminary investigations led to recovery of a spent cartridge at the scene of the shooting and Investigations led to the arrest of the suspect on November 23, within Kiambiu slums.
The state said it needed more time to obtain the suspect’s call data records from a telecom services provider, recover the murder weapon, a pistol and conduct a mental assessment of the suspect.
Similarly, it is alleged that Paul has confessed being a member of the gang that robbed and killed a DCI officer before robbing his wife in Ruai in August last year.
He told the DCI that killing police constable David Mayaka was not in their plans as they just wanted money from him and faults of his accomplices for fatally shooting the detective who was a scenes of crimes officer at the Makadara DCI offices.
The case will be mentioned on December 16, 2024.
