Family Seeks Answers After Wajir Huduma Centre Boss Vanishes Without a Trace

The family of Hussein Abdirahman Mohamed is living a nightmare. The well-known Assistant County Commissioner and Huduma Centre Manager in Wajir vanished on Tuesday, July 8 and no one has heard from him since.

Desperate for answers, his loved ones have now turned to the courts, filing an urgent application seeking to compel the state to reveal his whereabouts.

Through their lawyer Danstan Omari, the family is asking the High Court to order the police and other state agencies to produce Hussein in court or at least explain where he is or what happened to him.

This is a man who dedicated his life to public service. He had no known enemies, no ongoing disputes. One moment he was sitting among government officials welcoming the Cabinet Secretary for Public Service to Wajir, and the next moment he was gone,” reads court papers

Photos attached to the petition show Hussein seated among dignitaries during the minister’s visit his last public appearance. Hours later, he disappeared without a word.

A missing person report was filed by his family at Sojir Police Station in Wajir, but days have passed without any leads.

Lawyer Omari believes Hussein may be in unlawful state custody, held incommunicado in violation of his constitutional rights. The habeas corpus application is now asking the court to intervene and ensure Hussein is brought before a judge or his whereabouts accounted for by July 14.

Every hour that passes without answers is agony for his family,The Constitution protects the liberty of every Kenyan. No one, no matter their position, should just disappear.” Reads court papers
