DPP Recalls File in Sh50M Land Fraud Case Involving Gospel Singer Ringtone

The Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) has recalled the police file in a land fraud case involving gospel musician Alex Apoko, popularly known as Ringtone, and his co-accused, Alfred Juma Ayora. The two are facing charges related to a Ksh 50 million land fraud involving a property located in Karen.

During proceedings before trial Magistrate Dolphina Alego, the prosecution informed the court that the DPP intends to review the criminal charges against the two accused persons. The prosecution requested a one-month adjournment to facilitate the review process.

Meanwhile, the court issued a stern warning to Ringtone following allegations that he took photographs of the complainant within the courtroom. The complainant raised concerns about her safety, accusing the singer of capturing her images and issuing threats. Magistrate Alego condemned the act, terming it unlawful.

The case will be mentioned on September 8, 2025, to confirm the outcome of the DPP’s review.

Ringtone and Ayora are accused of conspiring to defraud Teresia Adhiambo of her property in Karen. Both have pleaded not guilty and were released on a cash bail of Ksh 1 million each.
