DPP Approves Murder Charges in MP Ong’ondo Were Killing -Bodyguard, Hitman Among 5 to Face Court

Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) has approved murder charges against five suspects, including Kasipul MP Charles Ong’ondo Were’s bodyguard, Allan Omondi Ogola, in connection with the legislator’s killing on April 30, 2025, near City Mortuary Roundabout in Nairobi.

Ogola, alongside Isaac Kuria alias Kush (alleged hitman), William Imoli alias Imo, Edwin Oduor Odhiambo alias Machuani and Ebel Ochieng alias Dave Calo (a director at Lake Basin Development Authority), are set to appear before the Milimani and Kibera High Courts on Wednesday, June 4.

Investigations revealed the group conspired with others not yet charged to assassinate the MP Were.

Meanwhile, the MP’s driver Walter Awino Owino and aide Dennis Sewe Manyasi were released by JKIA Law Courts after being designated as state witnesses.
