A Nairobi court on Monday warned businessman Hatim Mohammed Tahir, who has been charged with disclosing personal data to a lawyer, not to interfere with the case pending before the court.
Tahir is accused of disclosing personal data without authority to Lynn Ng’ang’a, a lawyer handling his civil case. The incident allegedly occurred on September 19, 2023, at the Gigiri courtyard in Westlands sub-county, Nairobi. The disclosed data, captured on CCTV footage, involved an adult and a minor.
The complainant’s lawyer, Danstan Omari, informed the court that his client, Lauren Rose Friedman, had allegedly received threats, raising concerns about potential interference with the case.
“The complainant has received numerous threats attempting to interfere with the administration of justice. We shall be asking the prosecution to cancel the bond terms granted to the accused person,” Omari stated.
Omari indicated that they would be filing an application to cancel Tahir’s bail due to the alleged threats against his client.
The prosecution further informed the court that other individuals involved in the matter had not yet been arrested and requested a further mention date to facilitate these arrests and to provide the defense with witness statements.
“We are requesting another mention date in September as further arrests are pending, and we aim to hear the matter collectively,” the prosecution stated.
Milimani Resident Magistrate Rose Ndombi directed that the matter be mentioned on October 1 and issued summons for the investigating officer to appear in court.
She warned the accused not to interfere with the case in any way, as had been alleged.
