The Kibera Law Courts have ordered that Kennedy Kalombotole, the prime suspect in the murder of two patients at Kenyatta National Hospital (KNH), be detained at Mbagathi Hospital under tight security due to his deteriorating health.
Principal Magistrate Daisy Mutahi made the ruling after acknowledging that Kalombotole is currently unwell, on medication, and in need of continuous medical supervision. His lawyer, Philip Maiyo, had earlier told the court that Kilimani Police Station lacked the necessary facilities such as cold storage for medication to manage his client’s condition.
The court was informed that various hospitals were being considered for his medical care: Kenyatta National Hospital and Mbagathi Hospital.
Following deliberations, the magistrate ruled in favor of Mbagathi Hospital, where Kalombotole will now be held in a secluded medical setting under strict security.
