Kibera High Court Justice Diana Kavedza has sentenced a young man to 40 years in prison after he pleaded guilty to the manslaughter of his employer in Kabete, Dagoreti Sub-County in 2021.
In delivering the sentence, the court noted that although the accused saved judicial time by admitting to the offence, the circumstances surrounding the killing were particularly grave. The judge observed that the convict not only killed his boss but also dismembered her body, an act that significantly aggravated the offence.
The deceased, Miriam Wangari, was found murdered, with parts of her body dismembered. Her head and limbs have never been recovered to date.
The court further stated that the convict’s actions denied the family the opportunity to accord their loved one a dignified burial, compounding their pain and suffering.
Taking into account both the guilty plea and the brutality of the crime, the court sentenced him to 40 years’ imprisonment.
