Court Defers Plea of Woman Accused of Damaging Property Worth KSh325,000 in Lang’ata

The plea-taking of Mary Waithera Gikonyo, a 50-year-old woman accused of maliciously damaging property valued at KSh325,000, has been postponed.

The adjournment followed a request by Waithera’s lawyers, Ishmael Nyaribo and John Swaka, who told the court that their client was unwell and unable to attend the proceedings. The defense produced medical documents to support their claim, which the prosecution did not contest.

Waithera was scheduled to appear before the Kibera Law Courts on Tuesday to answer charges of willfully and unlawfully destroying property belonging to Eric Munene.

According to the charge sheet, the alleged offense occurred on March 22, 2025, along Kumbe Road in the Hardy area of Lang’ata Sub-county. Waithera, together with others not before the court, is accused of damaging a main gate, breaking the main house door, smashing several window panes, and destroying a CCTV camera.

She was arrested on October 13, 2025, and arraigned the following day. The case, recorded under police file number CR 172/22/2025, was investigated by officers from Hardy Police Station.

Waithera was released on police bail of KSh20,000 and is expected back in court on November 28 to take her plea.
