A Nairobi businessman, Samuel Maina Weru, has been arraigned in court for allegedly obtaining goods worth KSh 7.3 million by false pretenses.
According to the charge sheet, Weru is accused of fraudulently obtaining 990 jerricans of 20-litre cooking oil and 675 cartons of Menengai bar soap all valued at KSh 7,382,880 from Network Four Limited. He allegedly deceived the supplier by falsely claiming he was capable of paying for the goods.
The prosecution stated that the offences were committed on diverse dates between November 26, 2024, and December 30, 2024.
Weru denied the charges when he appeared before Chief Magistrate Lucas Onyina at the Milimani Law Courts. He was released on a cash bail of KSh 5 million pending trial.
