A woman who allegedly beat up her househelp was on Friday charged before a Kibera court with assault.
Esther Wanjiru Kiarie was arraigned before Kibera senior Principal magistrate Margaret Murage and charged with assault.
It is alleged that Wanjiru who lives in Kileleshwa assaulted her househelp Margaret Nduku on January 22 this year.
She denied the charge and through her lawyer she asked for lenient bail terms.
The court heard that Wanjiru was a law abiding citizen and was ready to abide by all conditions given by the court.
Through her lawyer, she asked to be given all the witness statements and documentary evidences that the prosecution wanted to rely on during the entire trials.
She was released her on Sh 20,000 cash bail with a surety of the same amount and a credible contact person.
According to police, Nduku allegedly suffered some mouth injuries during the said attack by her employer.
The case will be mentioned on February 22 for a pre-trial.
