The High Court has extended interim orders in the case filed by activist Okiya Omtatah challenging the implementation of the Ngong–Riruta railway project.
The matter came up for mention before Bahati Mwamuye, where the Kenya Railways Corporation denied being in contempt of court.
Through its representatives, the railway agency told the court that its ongoing activities on the site were limited to fencing the area, which it said was necessary to secure the project.
In his ruling, Justice Mwamuye stated that the interim orders have been varied but will remain in force up to and including the end of the day on 26 February 2026.
The judge clarified that the orders do not bar works aimed at preserving the value, security and utility of the project.
“These orders are of immediate effect. We will revisit the matter at that stage,” the court ruled.
The case will be heard on 26 February 2026, when the court is expected to review compliance with the existing orders and the status of the project.
