The High Court has issued orders freezing bank accounts linked to Kiambu Governor Kimani Wamatangi, his wife, children, and ten other individuals over a separate Sh813 million corruption and unexplained wealth investigation.
The orders were granted after the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) moved to court seeking preservation of funds it believes may be tied to corruption and irregular dealings.
EACC told the court it is pursuing investigations into allegations that the money was acquired through unlawful means and may involve abuse of office and other financial crimes.
The court directed that the accounts remain frozen pending the hearing and determination of the commission’s application.
The freeze orders mean the affected individuals will not access or withdraw funds in the targeted accounts until the matter is mentioned and directions are issued by the court.
