Court to Deliver Judgment on Legality of IEBC Appointments on July 8

A three-judge bench led by Justice Roselyne Aburili will on July 8 deliver a judgment on the legality of the appointment of commissioners to the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC).

The decision, expected at 11:00 a.m. in open court, comes amid a legal challenge in which petitioners argue that the selection process was unconstitutional. They claim it violated existing court orders and failed to adhere to the principles of transparency and public participation as required by law.

The outcome of the case is likely to have far-reaching implications on the IEBC’s composition and its readiness to oversee upcoming electoral processes.
